This newly renovated hotel was a gem. We had two queen size beds in our room, a table and chairs, closet and vanity and bathroom. It was very spacious. The hotel was centrally located to many attractions. There were no hidden charges for parking, coffee, swimming pool, etc. A continental breakfast was included with the room. The desk personnel was very helpful with directions, advice, needs, even printing our air tickets home.

Overall experience was good. My initial impression was doubtful because I had to slam up against the door to open it; I guess the door was warped. However the room was clean and spacious; and the hotel is in close proximity to stores, restaurants, Starbucks, airport, etc. It's not a fancy hotel, but for the price--I'd consider staying here again. NOTE: they charge you a daily rate for the safe in your room whether or not you use it. This is in addition to your room charge. They don't verbally tell you, it's a note they politely hand you along with your room key, smile and tell you to enjoy your stay! Although the daily charge is minimal, I think the hotel should be obligated to ensure guest are aware of any additional charges from their expected room rate.

The hotel is "smoke free" however when I arrived I smell smoke immediately. There was no remote control for the Television in the room so I had to request that. However the thing that bothered me the most was the noisy refridgerator it had this ticking sound that prompted me to disconnect it at night. I told the person at the front desk that very night but nothing was done to resolve the problem. Good thing it was only for 3 nights.

Great location. Easy to get to MCRD, Seaworld, Zoo, Mission Beach, or the Mall. Plenty of restaurants near by. The hotel looked much better on the websight than it actrually turned out to be. We could have stayed at a less expensive hotel for the same ammenities. The staff was very freindly and somewhat helpful. There were no drinking glasses in the room. we asked for some and when none arrived, we were given paper cups at the front desk. We asked for extra pillows and they never arrived. The breakfast was good although very limited in choices. The rooms were small and the walls were paper thin. We could hear nearly everything going on in the rooms next door. The carpets were stained, but the room was otherwise fairly clean. The door to the room opened directly to the outdoors and every day we would find three flyers for pizza places etc, shoved through the door cracks. The whole experience reminded me of a national roadside chain of cheap motel rooms. There is a * per day charge for the room safe whether it is used or not. There was a clothes iron in the room, but no ironing board. If you are looking for the cheap motel room experience, find a cheaper place to stay. If you want a nicer experience, I would suggest that you keep shopping for a better hotel. The pool was very small, outdoors, and not heated. The websight indicated that there was a fitness room. There was none.

Location: Great! Near to everything (airport, shopping, beaches, Sea World).Free Parking, too! There were a few 'Adult Entertainment' type places nearby, but there were no 'unseemly characters' loitering around the area as we might have expected. ***The Room: The carpet had large stains but otherwise the room was very clean. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable! We had a king-size bed and the room also included a hide-a-bed loveseat which was perfect for our son. Nice bathroom with granite counter & shower walls, and a hair dryer. The mid-size refrigerator was very clean, as was the small microwave, and the coffeemaker. Nice counter space, too - we were able to use like a kitchenette! The air conditioner/heater unit worked very well. ***The Foodt: The free breakfast is continental style, so don't expect a lot of proteins...fruit, danishes, juice & coffee. And there was a station where you could make your own waffles. That was fun! According to the signs, on some days they also offer hard-boiled eggs. Breakfast is served 6-9 am. The adjoining mexican restaurant, Tio Carlo's, offers free room service if you have cash. The food was very good. The hotel also included a free plate of nachos from the restaurant. ***The Pool: Small but clean. ***The Staff: Very Friendly!! Very Accommodating! Even the housekeeping staff was very helpful. We smoke, and all the rooms are non-smoking, so they brought us an ashtray so we could use it outside our room.
