The hotel is beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. With this said we will not be staying at this hotel again. The doors to the rooms slam shut whenever you leave or enter. Even when we tried to quietly close the door it made a lot of noise. Starting at 6 a.m. doors starting slamming up and down the hallway which made it impossible to sleep in.

We went to Maui Oct 9 - 16 taking our 7 year old son and 73 year old mother in law. We had two ocean front rooms. The view from our rooms was stunning worth every extra penny for ocean front. The rooms themselves were lovely very clean well appointed. We had everything we needed. The refrigerator and the in room safe came in very handy! We spent alot of time at the beach and the pool. The pool is huge. The shape and layout is lovely. And they were constantly cleaning in and around the pool. It was very impressive to see how attentive they were. They have a great childrens pool area with 2 water slides. Our 7 year loved both slides. He could have easily spent all day everyday playing in the pool. It was that great. The beach is just steps maybe 20 from the pool. So very close and easy to access. We found this to be a great family hotel. There are a couple of restaurants. We tried both. The food at both was excellent. The breakfast buffet is awesome and we ate both lunch and dinner at Umalu. Delicious and lovely patio environment. The lobby is a big open air atrium which has many beautiful trees tropical plants flowers. In addition they have a variety of birds which provided alot of entertainment for our son. Parrots penguins swans flamingos. They were fun! They also have an onsite Luau and a Polynesian circus. We went to both. We thoroughly enjoyed them and it was super convenient to have them right there at the hotel. We didnt even have to get the car out of the lot!

The hotel is very beatiful. The place is very crowded, we had to wait to be seated for the breakfast buffet. To get a lounge chair at the pool we didn't even try the ones in the shade were taken very early. As far as the beach is concerned we were very disappointed because there is no swimable beach there. Lounge chairs are not permitted on the beach by the hotel, you have to go left out of the hotel and walk to the end of the property to rent lounge chairs and an umbrella for * dollars. The beach is also very rocky there. We walked to the right of the hotel about 30 minutes and found the most beautiful beaches where you could rent chairs and umbrellas for * a day at noon. The room is fine except the closet area where you can get stuck in. Overall the hotel is ok. The beach is why I wouldn't stay there again. One more thing is forget about free parking you wont find a spot. They will valet if youcant find a spot for free but we stopped looking after the 1st night and valet parked so get ready for an additional $* a day plus tip.

We stayed for the first time in Aug 09 for 6 nights. My family loved the hotel. The packages that include the breakfast was well worth it. The food was delicious. We had to pay a little more for my children's meals, but it wasn't too much. In general, the cost of meals on the island is expensive(including the restaurants at the hotel), so we would eat a large breakfast(since it was all you could eat buffet), skip lunch and eat an early dinner. My children loved all the birds at the hotel. We took our time exploring the grounds, so it was like discovering something new everyday. They rotate the birds, so it was fun for my daughter to look for her favorite parrot, Roger, every day. The pool area is very nice. My kids HAD to swim every single day we were there...even after doing the road to Hana. The children's area has a small slide and a shallow sandy bottom. There's also a larger slide for older guests at the other pool. Our room was a regular room. It was clean and comfortable. The only thing I wished for was a larger beach area. We stayed a different hotel a few days before coming here. The beach at that hotel was very nice. The sandy area near the Hyatt was much smaller. We found all the employees to be very welcoming, helpful and friendly. It's not the cheapest place to stay, but I feel it was worth it. We're looking forward to our next stay.

Ive been to hawaii twice before and obviously being there is good enough. This resort however fulfilled what i always thought hawaii should be like on vacation. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous with 3 story ceiling and an atrium in the center. There are birds sprinkled throughout the grounds including flamingos and african cranes. The staff is super friendly and extra helpful. We stayed in a mountain veiw room but thwne you went on the balcony you could see the ocean. There is good shopping walking distance #40along a beach front path no less#41 at whalers village. High end and normally priced things as well. The hula grill is really great and had live music when we went there for dinner. Activities are expensive everywhere in hawaii but i felt they were worse here. I didnt really mind though because my intention was to relax which i did plenty of. This resort is not brand new but unless you are used to uber luxury I would definitely reccommend a stay here. Try to make sure you have breakfast included as the buffet at swan court is worth it!
