  Last week (21,22,23 May 09) I stayed in the Intercontinental - AbuDhabi. Although I had to insist in order to get the sea-view room I'd requested the room and the view were worth the few minutes I had to wait. My 8th floor window overlooked the pool (with swim-up bar), marina, and the amazingly blue Arabian Gulf. The room was exceptionally comfortable and housekeeping did a great job of keeping it that way. I suppose that the most noteworthy thing of all is that I found that each and every member of hotel staff with whom I had dealings seemed honestly pleased to give above-and-beyond level service! Throughout the hotel, including the wonderful Italian restaurant, staff were friendly and very helpful. I was staying in the hotel while attending a conference. I would NOT recommend holding a conference or other event that requires the use of the main ballroom. There are huge pillars about 2/3 of the way back in the room that create significant problems both with acoustics and abili ty to see large areas of the room. All in all, I will definately stay here again... next time for pleasure!
