From the moment we pulled up to the lobby area we were treated like royalty. Everyone was happy, smiling and very welcoming. It was a great atmosphere. We loved our room which was partial oceanview and was the best of both worlds as far as views and a little less expensive than full oceanview. We had a greeat view of the ocean, the beautiful Kaanapali Golf course and the West Maui Mountains. It was spectacular and we loved waking up to this each morning. The staff at the resort were all fabulous people and treated us with the utmost respect. We always felt safe at the resort and did not hesitate to walk around. The beach walk connecting many resorts and hotels along the famous Kaanapali Beach is a very cool asset. It was well kept, clean and safe. We took the walk almost everyday up to Whaler's Village or north to check out other resorts along the way. The Mai Tais were really good and Eric at the Bar made them the best. The Barefoot Bar (outside by the beach) was fun and the staff there were awesome as well offering island information and facts made for a learning experience as well as a good time sipping a drink. Overall we would definately go back to Royal Lahaina Resort. This place has so much to offer for a fantastic vacation in Maui. Forgot to mention how comfy the beds and pillows were. Another thing to do right at the hotel is the lei making class, it is only $* with a really sweet lady named Chicoand it only takes about 30-45 minutes. I would recommend doing this at the beginning of your stay so you can wear it.

When we checked in they said they were upgrading us from the cottage to the tower for the first night, then the next day they would move our luggage for us to the new room. The next day they moved us to the 5th floor of the tower instead of the cottage. We liked the tower, so we didn't mind. Our room in the tower was nice and had a beautiful view of the ocean and grounds. The lighting in the vanity/sink area wasn't the greatest for doing hair or makeup. Other than that, the beds and pillows were clean and very comfortable. The restaurant in the towers was nice and had very good food at a reasonable price. The night of the Tsunami we were woken by an audio announcement that everyone was ok and everything under control, and if we had questions to watch the tv. About 1:00 a.m. they announced they were evacuating of all the the first 4 floors-anyone else who wanted to go as well was welcome to join them. Luckily we were on the 5th floor and didn't need to leave. The next morning most of the staff had been there all night, and they were still helping all the guests and working their regular shift without ever having gone home. The resort had an emergency plan, and executed it execellently! I was very impressed with the dedication that the employees showed the evening of and the days following the tsunami. We enjoyed ourselves entirely and (other than not sleeping much the night of the tsunami) had a wonderful relaxing honeymoon.

this trip was for my honeymoon, and first time to Maui.Maui is very quiet, not alot of night-life, and hotels and restaurants are spaced out. This hotel was nice, we stayed in the remodeled room on the 4th floor, clean room, big bed, nice partial ocean view. Beach was quiet, not too busy, but weather was windy so i didnt do any swimming.Food is good on site, but expensive. Whalers Village is about 10-15minute walk , easy to find as u just walk down the beach walk that takes you straight there. As i found out, there are closer hotels such as kaanapali beach and the Whaler hotel.which are about 5 minutes from whalers village.Whalers village is like a small outdoor mall, shopping, bus stop and a few restaurants. Lahaina town is about 15minutes away on the bus for * dollar per person. This is also where you most likely would doc if you are doing any activities on the boat. Also in Lahaina is shopping, and lots of eating that is reasonably priced. Overall a great vacation but like i said its more for people who want to relax with not a lot of hassle and not much to do.

royal lahina resort started a little bumpy the first night we checked in we were in a garden cottage very old, musty and overall not comfortable to stay in. We were move to the tower the next day and although the room was a lot smaller it was much cleaner and newer. We just used the room for changing and sleep anyway, Who wants to be inside in Hawaii! I would certainly stay there again.
