We were in San Fran for the first time with our son who is 17. There were pros and cons of this hotel. First the pros - The beds were comfortable and clean, the parking was free and it seemed like a pretty safe area, and you can't beat the price if you factor in saving about $ a day in parking. The cons - it is on a noisy street but we were put on the third floor which they said was a little quieter. There is nothing fancy about this place, not even enough towels unless requested. If you like flat pillows you will sleep well here. The free continental breakfast was toast and coffee, so don't count that. They front desk guys were not very helpful or friendlly. All in all we were not in the roon very long onlyt to sleep so this worked out ok. Next time I probably would of stayed closer to the Fishermans Wharf as it was too long of a walk to walk there, even though this was catorgorized as that area. A few tips to new visitors of San Fran, bring warm cloths. I had to buy a jacket because sweater and sweat shirt was not enough, especially for the evening Alcatraz tour ;which was very good. The hop on hop off bus which tours the entire city iis a great way to see the city and less crowded than cable cars.

The hotel is wonderful, clean, newly remodeled, and the staff is wonderful. The Assistant General Manager Tim is the biggest thing that this "INN" has going for it! He is a font of knowledge about S.F. and the surrounding area, and is so nice and genuine that even if its your first time at this hotel, he makes you feel like you've been coming there for years. The location is wonderful, near many shops, restaurants, and pubs. Close to public transportation so getting around is easy. The only complaint i have is the noise, but you don't spend that much time in your room anyways, and with all the walking you do in S.F. you sleep like the dead anyway. This Inn is a true gem, and my husband and myself will definitely be staying there for many years to come. A+++ all around!

Dissapointed off the bat with the fact that they did not honor my reservation with the room and/or floor that I specifically requested and was told was available. Room very dated and sterile, and stale, bad coffee, shower leaked, noisy, TV didn't work well, no premium channels, teeny old thread bare towels, lumpy mattress, you name it. Also, did not like store front feeling of huge floor to ceiling windows lining front of room, no view anyway. Bad time.

It's close to Chestnut street and all it's restaurants and bars. Walking distance to many nice places. The only drawback is if you get stuck in a street facing room. Our room was unbearable. I felt like I'd been up all night (which in fact we had because of the inordinate amount of street noise.) It's like sleeping on the freeway...literally. Ask to be moved if your window looks onto the street. Do not take no for an answer!!! You'll be a zombie the next day if you don't move!!!! Bathroom was very outdated. If you get an interior room, the place is a bargain.
