07/24/2010Very clean, nice accomodations. superb service and facilities. continental breakfast with hot waffles. no wifi...this was very disappointing. i really needed wifi and they couldn't get it up ...
Very clean, nice accomodations. Superb service and facilities. Continental breakfast with hot waffles. No WIFI...this was very disappointing. I really needed WIFI and they couldn't get it up even though they tried.

Clean, updated, nice people. The breakfast was continental. Hot waffles, boiled eggs, cereal, muffins, yogurt, etc. WIFI was a problem. I stayed two nights and never was able to access the internet. Host even gave me a special access device and a phone # to call for help. The call simply was too long and after half and hour with no net access I ended the call...I had other stuff to do. WIFI is their achilles heal...if it is important to you. I'm sure you can find it at a McDonalds. I wanted to update my friends on my travel and e-mail some associates but simply couldn't. WIFI is important to me. Important enough that I may find another place when coming back to Columbia. The price they charge should do better on the internet connection. Other wise I give this place an A+.

worst hotel we have stayed in in many yrs... It was filthy nasty, took them 2 out of the three days we were there to clean the room,, .. for the three days we were there they cleaned the room by just making the bed. and replacing the towels..No other cleaning was done, I would never book another stay with La Quinta again.. For all the headaches and filth we slept in for two days , they offered us a free night stay, at any La Quinta inn.

My friend and I decided to attend a 2 day festival in Columbia, SC. My husband got on line to find a place for us to spend the night. We read a few really bad reviews regarding reasonably priced motels. When he found a LaQuinta for an affordable price, I reserved a room. Both my friend and I were extremely satisfied with the room. It was very clean and comfortable. The temperature was perfect and I liked the lighting. (Dim lighting is sometimes a problem in motels.) LaQuinta was very easy to reach from downtown Columbia - we followed Two Notch Road/Route 1 to I-20. A free continental breakfast was available - and the coffee was good. The staff was nice, attempting to answer all of our questions. A suggestion would be to have local maps and tour info on hand. The desk clerk said no maps were available and he wasn't able to give directions to a place we wanted to visit. Overall I would rate the motel an 8+. Because of the price and location, I plan to stay at LaQuinta on my next overnight visit.
