Great location, even better price! Bargain across from the beach!

The building itself is a little dated, but it's a block from the beach and the staff was very friendly and helpful in pointing out locations around the area where we could get a little R&R. My wife and I enjoyed our 5 days there very much; there's a supermarket very close and they offer a community grill which was great for saving money on eating out all the time and having an excuse to be out by the pool. If you're used to a five star place, I wouldn't recommend it but if you're looking for somewhere to unwind after a long day of swim, sun and other south FL activities, not to mention saving some cash to have extra to spend on the shops in the surrounding area, then this is the place for you. We will be coming back!!

Stay away and you can thank us later. This place is the worst so call motel ever. We refused to stay due the the unpleasent odors and the rude and ignorant staff. This place should be condemed. I am calling the States Attorney Generals Office along with the B.B.B. Plus I will also be calling the building ordinance devision because I can assure you their are dozens of violations health wise.

My girlfriend and I booked this motel online last week. We thought we had lucked out finding a room just across the road from the beach at such a low rate. Live and Learn. The approach to the Lafayette Motel is the most impressive part of the visit. We followed Ocean Avenue north along the beach, passing in and out of the shadows of ever taller high-rises. Amidst all the gleaming glass and chrome and cloud-scraping steel the Lafayette's three stories of eroding pink stucco and moss green roof draws the eye. The drive up from Key West to FTL. is long, so my girlfriend headed straight up to our room. I remained in the "lobby", where I was given a lengthy orientation: "no hanky panky in the pool" i was advised. my attention directed to the security monitor in the corner...... The courtyard of the Lafayette is modest but inoffensive, if one ignores the trash accentuating the landscaping. When I arrived at the room my girlfriend was not pleased. She showed me why. The toilet had not been flushed since its last use; some time ago given the appearance and odor. The sink was host to a small colony of ants, and the stovetop was a patchwork of aluminum foil, rust, and what looked like dried ramen. After a couple minutes discussion, we decided we couldn't stay. The front desk clerk (now joined by a manager) assured us that if we contacted the booking agency the motel would make sure we were reimbursed. As it turns out, we called the booking website about our refund, and they called the Lafayette. We were then told that the Lafayette was refusing to reimburse us. I called the motel directly, only to be rudely dismissed and then hung up on.......
