This hotel's parking lot has a covered walkway to the Cumberland CTA stop. 30 minute train ride to downtown Chicago, and free shuttle to O'Hare. From a convenience standpoint, it cannot be beat. The section we stayed in was a bit older, but nicely furnished. Two queen beds did not leave much floor space, but we really only used the rooms for sleeping after long days of sightseeing and shopping. $* cab ride to restaurants in Parkridge, which has several nice places to eat.

This hotel had some of the nicest staff I've ever met... which is good, because with a hotel this old they need them. The rooms are tiny - double beds, and could use renovating badly. The hotel itself is laid out in an intersting configuration more reminiscent with a motel (the wings are three story around extremely large courtyards). This makes dragging your bags down long corridors, around corners to yet more long corridors a bit of a chore. It would have been nice if they offered bag service, or even warned you of the trek. In my case it was worsened by the fact I changed rooms 3 times.... yes, I know what that sounds like - but as a solo female traveler, the first ground floor room had outside access via a sliding glass door that was quite old. It didn't feel secure so I asked for another room (after dragging my bag all the way back to the front desk. The next room (again, just as far out) was filled with overpowering odors of must and cleaner... I waivered but since I was there for three nights I left my bag and went back to the front desk. This time I asked the bellman to show me the third room which was quite nice - clean, safe still tiny - and had the bellman move my bag to the final room. Beyond that the age of the rooms - the quality of the beds and ammenities were on par with other Marriot properties. Free wifi access is available in the lobby with plenty of plugs... the hotel food was rather mediocre but a quick trip one stop closer to OHare brings you to plenty of good restaurants.

On my second night I found that the room was not very clean (it was obvius that was not vacum since there was some paper wraps and toothpick o the floor) and the bed looks like it was made in a hurry, it did looks like the maid just trow the sheets on the bed and left. I have use Marriott many times, within USA and in South America and this is the first time that I was a little disapointed.

The staffers were great, but we were shocked to arrive and learn about a mandatory $22 per night parking cost. Since I booked flight/hotel/rental car through the site, I wasn't expecting a surprise extra charge to actually use the rental car! A CSR told me he'd refund the cost, and I encouraged him to indicate the charge on the booking page. I would have stayed anywhere else with free parking for that price. The hotel itself was OK, a bit on the older side, but when we had a bad drain in room 1 and a bad bed in room 2, the staff upgraded us to room three for our third night, which went a long way toward doing business again with the company.
