Great place to stay. We spent 3 nights at the Matisse B&B. Roberto was a great host. He sat with us upon arrival, took out a map of Roma and started showing us where all the sites to see were. He gave us recommendations on where to eat and where to get the bes Gelato mmmm. We were in the heart of Roma. We could not have asked for a better location. We walked to all the sites. The rooms were newly renovated and were large, very clean and comfortable. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to stay. There was no T.V. or phone in the room, so you could get away from everything. Breakfast was yogurt, cereal, croissants etc. Could use some fresh fruit. Overall it was an excellent stay and would recommend highly.

Close to Termini (10 min walk) & Nazionale metro (3 min walk). Owner operated multiple locations, all upscale in quality (from what we saw). XXX, the owner is very attentive to guests & provides superior customer service. He showed us several rooms and let us pick. Not all rooms are serviced by elevators but that?s not uncommon in Rome. All rooms have private baths but in one location, the bath was down the hall but was separate and private for each room. Everything was clean. Area was very safe and getting to the room required multiple keys.
Trevi Fountain, the Forum, Spanish steps, the Colosseum were 10-15 minute walk. Piazza Navona was about 20 minute walk. Vatican was 10 minute metro (1 Euro).
The owner provided dining, site seeing, and transportation recommendations. He was very attentive and extremely helpful. He took specific interest in us and our needs. He gave us lots of tips for how to see Rome, what to watch for, and how much to expect to pay. He pointed us to local shopping to avoid paying tourist prices.
Breakfast was typical continental breakfast for European hotels and consisted of cereal, fruit, and pastries. It was also available 24 hours.
It is best to contact XXX prior to arrival so he knows when to expect you or you may wait a few minutes. We didn?t and had to call him as he was at another location and we waited about 10 minutes. He?s very focused on customer satisfaction. We found that if he does offer you an alternate location, it?s not a bait and switch - he?s trying to offer you his best available room.
He only accepts cash for payment, no credit cards but he would take either dollars or euro?s.
I?d recommend Matisse to anyone. -

We can't rave enough about the great service we got at Matisse! Highly recommend. It's very clean, comfortable, quiet and the location is about 3 min walking distance to the Colosseum. The manager really goes out of his way to make sure you are taken care of and happy. We've never stayed at a more accommodting hotel as far as service. You won't be disappointed.
