THIS IS NOT A THREE STAR HOTEL!!! I just returned from a stay in Orlando at the Monumental Movieland Hotel. The staff was very accommodating to our concerns, Hotwire.com, where we booked, was far from helpful. After checking in, we went to our room to find it, dank, damp and smelling of mold and mildew. The furnishings were in desperate need of updating and the carpet in desperate need of removal. (Might I recommend that any hotel that has issues with humidity have all tile floors.) The Air Conditioner was loud and the dehumidifier even louder. (If you need a dehumidifier you are aware there is an issue.) We were so disgusted we forced ourselves to look for bedbugs (none found). The bedspreads, bedskirts and carpets were stained. The pillows were barely supportive. We called hotwire with our concerns only to be put on hold for 30 minutes and to be told that there is nothing they can do and that the 3 star rating given the hotel was standard and consistent with their rating scale. We went to the front desk with our concerns and were given a new room, directly across the hall from the first. The desk clerk was more than ready to accommodate our concerns and even escorted us to the new room to ensure that it was suitable. It was late, we were tired, and knowing we were not getting a refund from hotwire, we stayed. This new room had less of a moldy smell. But the bathroom was a different story. Apparently the tenants before us had pulled down the shower curtain rod and they had recently replaced it. This was evident by the plaster dust that covered the tub, floor, and counter. Even after housekeeping came through there was still dust and plaster....

To my surprise this is a very nice hotel :) Very clean, has all the "stuff" other hotels have. Great location, quick walk to local resturants and walgreens next door. easy access to I-4 the hotel is not located deep into international drive so the traffic was not an issue at all! The only improvements needed is more channels on cable tv. When kids are put to bed, adults like to relax and watch a movie channel. There are limited channels on the tv.

As a frequent visitor to Orlando, i know that almost all of the hotels show a fair degree of wear & tear as they are in use 365 days a year. With that being said, This property was just fine for our purposes and the staff was VERY pelasant & helpful. The rooms were fine, and any needs we had were met as soon as we requested them. Used public transportation which was close by and convenient. We couldn't beat the price either.

Very near North International Drive attractions like Universal Studios, Wet 'n Wild, Fun Spot and others. Numerous restaurants within walking distance, including one on hotel property that served a decent hot buffet breakfast for a low price that was further discounted with room key. Room was clean and well maintained by housekeeping staff. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful overall.

Had to ask the front desk to move us as the first room had a very smelly barf stain and the light fixture in the bathroom didn't work. The staff was very friendly and switched rooms for us very quickly no questions asked. Second room was O.K. Good breakfast at the steakhouse connected to the hotel for $3.98. Great location for visiting Universal Studios, WonderWorks, Sea World and WDW.
