Omni Royal Orleans is a beautiful hotel right in the center of the French Quarter. It couldn't have a better location. Very nice staff. Everything was very clean and well managed. However the rooms were very small and the bathrooms were very very small. The one thing that really irritated me was the internet. They wanted almost $* a day to access the internet. I signed up for Select Guest at Omni Hotels for free which is supposed to give me free internet but I could not sign in after the first time I used it. We went to use the business center to print boarding passes and they wanted something like $* to use the business center for each 15 minutes and * cents per page. Select Guest at Omni Hotels did not cover this expense. That left a bitter taste.

Ah, yes, New York! Where else can you get half as much for twice the price? The answer is New Orleans and particularly at the Omni Royal. This hotel is located on St. Louis Street in the French Quarter of the city. They should consider changing the name "French Quarter" to "French Dollar". We had a petite room on the 7th floor. Petite is not an adequate description. Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny would better describe it but I don't know how to say that in French. The room was so small, we had to go out into the hallway to change our minds. There was a single window in the room. The window sill is about 5 feet above the floor. My wife had to stand on a bench to look out of the window. The sheer curtains on the single window were torn and the carpet was stained. The even more itsy bitsy, etc bathroom had crud in all of the corners and some of the grout was missing from the tub surround. We do give the bathroom one point on the plus side - the toilet would flush a Buick. So would those of our neighbors. We could hear their toilets flushing through the thin walls. We give the dining room an A+ for the prime rib. All of the entrees are priced in the thirties. A sweet potato or baked potato is 6 bucks. So are the salads and other side dishes. The breakfast buffet is overcooked eggs, greasy bacon and sausage and cut your own bread.

Husband and I choose hotel for anniversary stay and we really enjoyed the room and location. There were no surprises bc the hotel looks exactly like pics online... This is our new stay when we visit the N. O. The only negative point is the additional parking fee, kinda expensive :(

Great hotel - clean , quiet and excellent location but have one major complaint. Fire Alarm went off 7 times during the night. We evacuated twice in 1 hour and try walking down 6 flights of stair while you're drunk. The hotel didn't apprear to have any clue what to do in an emergency situation. We exited down the stairway to a back alley along with many other guests and no staff was there to meet us. We walked to the front of the hotel and no one knew what was going on. Finally they told us it was someone smoking in the stairwell. We went back to our room and 1/2 hour later it went off again and we evacuated. Again, no one was there to meet us at the alley, the hotel staff stood around doing nothing and couldn't tell us what it was. A hotel guest who smelled smoke while evacuating called 911 and the hotel staff was pissed. Finally the fire dept. came and they decided it was a faulty alarm system...maybe. The whole situation didn't give us a warm and fuzzy feeling. Not only did we feel unsafe but we were woken another additioanl 4 - 5 times during the night. When we complained the next day we were offered some discounted meals. We asked for a refund on our nights stay and still feell that would have been appropriate.

This was our first visit to New Orleans and it was great. The Omni Royal was just what we were looking for. It was in walking distance to everything, but far enough from Bourbon St so we had no problems sleeping. We did upgrade to the bigger room and it was perfect - plenty of space in the room and the bathroom. I loved the rooftop pool and the great views from up there. For the price I don't think we could have found a better place to stay. The staff was very nice and helpful. But really the best thing is the location!!!
