Found this to be a great alternative to OOB; enjoyed the well maintained pool after a morning at Scarborough beach during low tide; the fully stocked kitchen allowed us to buy groceries across the street at Shaw's; excellent choice for our 3-yr old toddler. The front desk was very helpful in finding a good chinese restaurant for take-out.

My family and I arrived at this hotel after a very long day of travel only to find that the suite we rented for four #404#41 people had towels and dining room chairs for only three #403#41. In addition the room was musty smelling and overall looked shabby. The furniture was so run down and dirty looking that I hesitated to sit on it. The carpet looked dirty and shabby. The beds were uncomfortable no tv in the second bedroom and no working remote in the main bedroom. I immediately called Marriotts customer service and he was only able to get us two rooms at the Sable Oaks Marriott in Portland beginning the next night. I was assured that our room rate would be the same that we had booked it for since we were going to another Marriott owned hotel. However when I checked of the TownePlace Suites the manager charged me an extra * since we cut out stay short. Even after I explained to her what was wrong with the room and what the customer service rep had said she wouldnt budge. I certainly expected a lot more of a place run by Marriott but would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.
