Very nice hotel
03/05/2011My experience was very nice. the hotel has been renewed, and the room are very nice, maybe not too big, but with the necesary space. i recomend this hotel.

Had the worst sleep ever! 3) parking is $*/nite The only real positive attribute of this hotel is it's fab proximity to little Italy and the embarcadaro. Other than that, it's an over-priced one star. Boo!

The Hotel is very unique and is very convenient to Little Italy, which has some cute boutiques, nice bars, bistros and restaurants within walking distance. If you put in a little more leg work you can huff it the several blocks to the Gaslamp quarter. (minimal effort required.) I do not recommend doing this at night. Taxi ride from the airport was under $* in an Orange Cab, one way. The Hotel does have a shuttle but its operating hours are very limited. 8:00am to 4:00pm so my 10:30pm flight in and 6:00am flight out obviously fell outside that time period. (That was a little disappointing.) The room I had was a single queen bed. It was small and dated, but clean. For the minimal price I paid, it was just fine. The staff was helpful and polite. I was there for a job interview, so the old city enterprise was very convenient and they will pick up at the hotel. (Parking cost for hotel guest was $7.00 a day with in and out service, I think) The Old City Enterprise is less expensive than the Airport one, FYI. This hotel has a bar and restaurant on the 4th floor, which is a bit pricey but very tasty. (The dinner view for the restaurant is worth it.) I would stay at this hotel again.

How often do hotels advertise high ceilings? They seem to be underrated for their ability to help travelers relax. When I entered my Porto Vista room last year, the high ceiling was the first thing I noticed. It is one of the reasons I returned this year. Another reason I returned is for a seat at one of the restaurant tables along the hotel's western edge. The restaurant is four floors up so you have a balcony view of street theater without the excessive noise. When the street lights come on, they layer themselves under the sunsets, which outdo stage lighting in color and scale over San Diego Harbor. You dine under constantly changing light. Free continental breakfasts are ample and attractive and, like the dinners, attract a cosmopolitan group. While we were there we met a group of Japanese plant specialists who were in town to design and oversee construction of the Japanese garden at Balboa Park.

OMG!!!!! Why is this hotel even in business. Upon reading the ratings of various guests, one would think that this hotel would either get a make-up of its layout and staff. The manager of a supposedly prestigious hotel need to be more attentive and available for their guests. I have never been there but am planning to come to San Diego, CA but you can best believe that I would not dare step foot into this hotel. Nor would I have my family or friends to come there. This sounds like sleeping on the park bench. Totally disgusting to hear all of these negative ratings. For so many of your guests to post so many negative comments, it is apparent that you don't care and you are happy with slackness. Well, not to worr, you will not get any of my money. I'm glad I read this. Just goes to show, cheap is not always best.!!!! Signed, NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!!!
