We were delighted to find out two queen size beds meant 2 separate rooms. The location was excellent, the price very fair and the rooms very decent for the age of the building. The only drawback could be the music outside that can go until closing time of the near by restaurants. I would definitely book it again if the price remains so reasonable.

Honestly this hotel has a great location and the building has wonderful character. It is affordable. Things to know: Window air conditioner that rattles and doesn't work all that well. The walls are VERY thin and anything your neighbor is doing (and I mean EVERYTHING) you hear. Cleanliness -- if you overlook the chewing gum on the bedpost, not bad. Would I stay again? Probably not....there are many other hotels in a close price range that are better.

We stayed four nights at the Ramada Inn in the Gaslamp district. The hotel is centrally located. Great restaurants within walking distance. Horton Plaza shopping is the best and only two blocks away. Seaport Village is about a fifteen minute walk to get to great restaurants and shops. We took the bus to Balboa Park and the zoo for two straight days. There's so much to see and do in San Diego. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. It is an older hotel, but Ramada has fixed it up niceley. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We loved the turn of the century charm of this hotel from the lobey to our room. We selected this hotel because of it's location in the Gaslamp district - perfectly situated on 6th Avenue. With any great location in Gaslamp, however, is the noise and energy of the area. So just be aware it isn't going to be a quiet night's sleep - but we didn't want that anyways. The room is small and nicely done in period style. We stayed here on a one-night layover on our flight to Hawaii, but would definately stay again.

Good value, good service

This little hotel was great. About 8 blocks from the convention center, so good exercise to get me started each day. The room (single with one queen bed) was very small, not a problem for me by myself, but it would have been cramped for two people. The water pressure on the 5th floor was adequate, but the temperature in the shower would vary a lot. The service was great. Maid service was excellent, and the room and public areas were very clean. They didn't advertise it, but they have a free shuttle to the airport. Funky old elevator with the sliding cage door, but it worked fine. Adjoining bar/restaurant had limited menu, only fair quality food, but large portions. So overall, good value (40% less than the big name hotels), but not a luxury. No swimming pool.
