From the moment we walked in the hotel, I wished that we weren't staying there. There was no safety lock/card entry swipe on the main door, so anyone could walk in. Our room smelled funny, looked dirty, and the bathroom was infested with ants. The first thing we did was go to the nearest store and buy Clorox disinfecting wipes and air freshener. I was a little afraid to sleep in the bed - there was just a thin sheet over the mattress with no mattress pad. The place just felt creepy to us. If you're willing to sacrifice quality for price, go for it, but I would recommend finding another place to stay. We didn't dare try the breakfast for fear that there might be ants in the food.

Water pouring out of faucet and we were told to report it to "maintenance" tomorrow. TV remote was dead, got batteries from front desk that said he didn't know if the batteries would work, but that's all he had. TV reception was horrible and alternated between color and B&W.

x has obviously NEVER heard the words "customer service". She was not in the least bit interested in helping me and was just putting in her time at work. She didn't even look up from whatever she was doing and finally greeted me with an annoyed look...I must have been interupting her - customers do NOT come first with her. I explained to her that I would be paying for both my room AND my grandson's room. This was beyond her. Since I had booked the room on line, she would not use my credit card for both rooms, and then, to add insult to injury, (by this time I was pretty well sick of her and would have gone elsewhere if there had been any other hotel available), she proceeded to admonish my grandson (20 years old, a college student) that he could not go out on his own after 10pm without a parent (WHAT?) since Syracuse is a college town. Did she think we just dropped in from Saturn?
Needless to say, Sally has completely turned me off from this hotel and I will not stay there again. The next night, we asked for extra towels and x (again) said there were NO extra towels...the room was set up for 2 people and that was it. Apparently, if we chose to use more than 1 towel apiece, we just had to drip dry. In addition to all this nonsense, the maid never replaced the coffee or the tissues in this room. There was 1 (one) tissue in the tissue box when we arrived, and since we didn't want to share it, we were out of luck. -
Unsafe Place to be avoided

This Ramada costs the same as the Fairfield Inn which is less than 1 mile away, but is far inferior. I was shocked and worried that the door to the building (there are 2 here) had NO LOCK AT ALL. I was even more concerned that the door to the 2nd floor also had no lock - no card reader, nothing. In theory, anyone could walk in from the street with nothing to stop him/her. I locked and bolted my room door and nothing happened, but I'm not going back to this place. The tub surround was partly clean and partly dirty. I was told I could have free breakfast the next day, but decided not to take it; considering the place is not very clean overall, I didn't want food served or prepared there. In a similar building Holiday Inn or Marriott would have multiple locks but Ramada isn't concerned about safety. Stay at one of the many other motels 1 mile away.

If I were alone and didn't have any travel mishaps, or handicaps this place would be just fine. However, if you foresee a need for more customer care or have special needs, I'd suggest another hotel. The room overall appeared clean and the beds were very comfortable. When I walked in the room it smelled of mildew from the shower curtain, I just closed the bathroom door. There wasn't an elevator which was a problem when my cane-wielding grandmother came to stay with me. I was on the second floor and in order for me to switch rooms, I was told I'd have to check out by 11am the next day and not be able to return until 3pm. Absurd. I supposed I'm partly to blame for assuming there was an elevator. The front desk people were hit or miss for helpfulness. Good luck.
