My husband and I had a very nice experience at the Richmond. Very pleasant staff, historic property and beautiful pool. Loved the banana pancakes at the restaurant by the pool. We walked the entire art district and the hotel was near some wonderful cafes.

Nice but not as expected, a little frustrating

I do have to say that the hotel is very clean, the room was nice and the pool was great. The majority of the staff was very nice and accommodating but I had not realized that check-in isn't until 4pm and how strict they are about it. The cheapest flight we were able to get landed 9:30am, by the time we got to the hotel it was a little after 10am.. I had explained the situation to the girl at the front desk, telling her we are planning to go to breakfast and walk around, could our room be ready any earlier than 4. She says 'yes once it clean, check back by 1', so we do and apparently its clean but not inspected yet so she tells us to check back within the hour. Okay, so we come back then, she tells us it not yet ready... so we come back AGAIN at 3 and she tells us that check-in isn't suppose to be before 4 anyway. Well if there was NO chance of getting the room before 4 just tell me that from the beginning! (even though the next day a man who claimed to be sleepy got an early check-in right away(at 11am)..lesson learned: claim sleepy) We checked in exactly 4:00 and we're told nothing about the hotel. We went to the beach not knowing we have to pay for chairs and umbrella, and learned the next day that if we had told them we're from the Richmond hotel we'd receive a discount. On our last day the lady at the desk was very nice, she was very accommodating and let us extend our check-out time at least. Overall it was a nice stay with a little frustration in the beginning.

My Husband and I just returned from our 10th anniversary and birthdays week. The Richmond is Awesome! Perfect location and XYZ the restuarant manager was so friendly. He baked us a cake for our anniversary even. We were also lucky to meet ABC the owner and hear all the history of her hotel. It truly was like staying with family. If there is anything remotely negative I guess it would be the small rooms. But most all the older South Beach hotels are this way. The rooms are clean and cozy with no noise. The pool and outdoor area is private and lush. Very safe with a code for the gate to the beach right behind the hotel. They even let us take our own drinks by the pool. Great price and you can walk to almost everything! We will be back for more memories in the future!!

My husband & I were on a weekend getaway & very happy with our selection. Was great value for the money! It was a small room but very clean. It was efficiently furnished. A/C worked great, we were cold! The atmosphere was great. Saw one family downstairs at breakfast but not all noisy. The staff was very polite & helpful. Doormen very courteous. The gentleman at the cafe was eager to please. We wanted sweet bread with our coffee & he came thru for us! The location fantastic, just a few steps from the beach! The pool was being repaired when we arrived & we did not get to enjoy it even though it was up & running the next day! We did however purchase a souvenir mug & forgot it by the pool one night & found it in the morning on a shelf on our way out! That was great, I thought it would of have walked away! All in all we would definitely stay there again!
