the hotel itself is nice, the room was ok, spacious. the service was bad. called for towels never got them. called for napkins and utensils, got kleenex and toilet paper. i think if you want to stay downtown you might be better off somewhere else if you are into the whole customer service thing. also parking was very limited and you had to drive up 11 flights to get to the hotel parking spaces not fun. i felt like i spent most of my time in the parking garage. also the pool was a nightmare. you walked in to the indoor pool area and the smell of chlorine almost knocks you out and nauseates you.

February 18 thru 23, 2010. We Stayed 5 nights for our daughter-in-laws baby shower and meeting with our son and daughter-inlaw's family and friends. The hotel and it's Staff were perfect, exceeded all our expectations. Our daughter and her fiance also came in from Arizona for the shower and also were impressed with the place. Those folks with negative reviews "in my opinion" have minutiae gripes and complain about anything. I'm sure they do the same no matter where they stay. One needs to do their homework as far as I'm concerned, pertaining to location / parking fees / pets / other fees / ect. Yes the parking is on the 11th floor costs, $* per night and a bit tight but we had no problems parking a Lincoln Towncar the first night there. There are many free parking spots on the streets on weekends and after 6:00 P.M. daily. Also 3 or 4 lighted parking lots 1/4 to 1/2 block away charging $* per 24hrs, this is where I parked 5 of the 6 days and my daughter 2 of days she was there. Didn't cry, this is downtown San Diego not downtown San Jacinto, but I did pop for the daughters parking, what else is a dad for? Also the elevators coming in from the street do only go up to the 12th floor then a short 90 foot stroll to the next set of elevators which take you to your room floor. Didn't cry and blame the hotel's layout for my arthritic hips which constantly ache, I shuffled my way the 90 feet to the other elevator a couple dozen times during our stay, no complaints. Expect a call from the hotel boss while your there, checking on your stay and if you are in need anything.

I would not stay here again. In the past we stayed at Hotel Solomar and compared to that this hotel is far out of the way. The lobby is on the 12th floor and parking is on the 11th. My room was on the 17th floor so to get to the ground level you had to go down two seperate elevators. I always travel with my two small dogs and although this hotel claimed to be pet friendly it is not. On top of having to drag them down 2 elevators to get outside there was not a grassy spot to be found for blocks for them to do their buisness. My other complaint is that the carpets in our room were absolutely FILTHY! Disgusting. What I do have good to say is that the staff is exceptionally friendly. Oh and they only have Wi-Fi in the lobby, which is a pain.
