Close to just about everything a visitor would want to see in downtown. The room was actually larger than expected with nice appointments. The television for the kids was tiny and the control through the cable box was not user friendly. We had to ask for a new shower curtain since the old one was entirely too short. There is a free breakfast included. It's served in one of the small cafes.The menu was decent and the portion 'adequate'. We bypassed the breakfast the second day for a nearby Denny's. The front Desk staff was great although overwhelmed. In it's time, I imagine this was a fabulous hotel. There is a lot of room on the 8 floors that could have been revenue rooms but a left open spaces. I have to admit this hotel is mountains above the Casper unit

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The place was dirty stinky and only one elevator worked the entire 5 nights I was there. I was on one of the top floors and had to wait 20-30 minutes everyday just to get to the lobby. When you did finally get on the elevator you had to share it with all of the rude housekeeping and maintance workers. It was awfull and I will never stay there again. I am spending a little extra money this year to actually stay in a place that values its customers!

I never got to use my reservations at this hotel due to inclement weather, and was extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and flexibility at this hotel. All I got was a run-around where no-one was willing to help. The money is lost and my trip cancelled, on my next trip to Salt Lake City I will find other accommodation with better service.

The Shilo Inn is in a great location and is a good value for the money. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The lighting was poor to fair, but that seems standard in most hotels. The room service menu and service itself leaves a lot to be desired, as the menu is limited to sandwiches and food is delivered in a plastic bag in styrofoam. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

For a day and a half, there was only one elevator for 12 floors, making some people wait several minutes. Ice machines on three floors were also out of service, making it necessary to go to another floor for ice. We had a dead battery and the front desk didn't know that free jumper service was available from the company that managed the parking lot. The service people were very helpful trying to help us start the car. The room service menu was out-of-date. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable, although seemed a little understaffed at times. I'll give the Shilo one more try.
