Built in 1938, this hotel oozes history, even after a remodel. The stairs that rise up into the lobby are quite grand, and Bar Drake, at the top of them, is swanky looking, but completely comfortable. Bartenders were friendly and new their libations! Ditto Harry Denton's Starlight Room on the top floor of the hotel (recently renovated as well). Check in was a breeze and staff were hospitable. The room was comfortable, but couldn't get the temperature below 74 degrees (preference is a bit cooler than that). Aside from that, the only thing a little lacking is the choice in TV channels. In this day and age, there should be more.

Great older hotel, but recently updated. The location is great, close to public transportation along with plenty of restaurants and other shops steps away. The staff was excellent in all departments and I would stay there again. I had a room with 2 double beds, so it was a larger room and nicely appointed. The internet is free if you sign up for the Kimpton InTouch program, which is quick and painless.

The hotel is very well located at SFO downtown. You have a lot of restaurant, dinners and shop around the corner. The service is Ok: no breakfast included, no parking included, very late check-in (3 pm). The room is big with good wifi quality.

An older hotel with a clean, well-serviced room and hot water in the shower almost instantly, at least on the 5th floor. Good elevator service. Quiet, even in the room next to the elevators. Good rates for the rooms, especially by Union Square standards. Did not use any hotel facilities because busy at convention all day, but people seemed happy at the bar. Attentive front desk and front door staff. This is the hotel with doormen dressed as "Tudoir England Beefeaters," so always nice to see them put on a show for tourists. Would definitely consider re-booking in a future visit.

My family and I came to the hotel excited to see how it would be and were very disappointed with our stay. The doorman was nice, the concierge was very helpful, but as soon as we walked into our room we saw how outdated everything was. The theme is okay, but the furniture is old! the walls are ugly and chipping, the bathroom is incredibly small, the bathtub is chipping as well, there isn’t a top on the toilet seat. the beds are okay, but the pillows are old and the comforter is not good. the tv is about 10 years old/outdated. and the cable sucks! i get better basic cable at home. the view was nice and the location is great, but considering the price that we are paying, i would rather be staying at the niko hotel or the marriot. we wanted to get a refund for our stay, but because we paid ahead of time, there was nothing that they could do. so basically we’re stuck in this dingy room for a week! bah hum bug for our christmas. breakfast in bed on christmas morning was great though! parking is ridiculously expensive! about $* a night. not worth it!!! definitely will not come back.
