as indicated above the location is just terrific. within a 100yards of vatican square and the bassicala.only 1 block away from the hop on and hop off bus location. just a few suggestions if you go.1.you will need about in euros if you take a shuttle bus from the airport to your hotel.dollars and credit cards want work and the exchange rate at the airport is not very good.better to exchange just * american at your airport in the us and then exchange more in rome. i found the vatican has a money exchange that had the best rates and no commission right there at the bassicala.2.credit cards are not accepted at most places, especially at the tourist sites and restuarants.in 8 days there i found about 20% of the places that we went only accepted them.3.be sure to ask about the commision charges when you eat out before you order. the commison charge can be almost as much as your meal. not really sure what it is i just know it was a lot.4.be sure to save some euros when you leave. at the airport if you want to buy anything it has to be in euros and once you clear customs there is no money exchange.5. pack some snacks and try to visit a market for your best deals. there are 2 right there at the hotel. example 1 coke or bottle water at the market is euro and euro,at the restuarants it is euro and euro and believe it or not unless it is a very fancy reaturant you can bring your own drink.6. make sure to exchange any dollars at the vatican before sunday since it is closed all day.7. the beds in the hotel are as hard as a rock

September 2010. This was our first trip to Rome so we were not sure what to expect. We stayed in a triple room for a week and we were satisfied with our room and the service. The Wi-Fi is not free as we thought and that is the only thing we found objectionable. As a whole, the front desk was friendly and helpful. The airport limo was on time to and from the airport. The breakfast was okay. The location was great for us. One block from the Vatican and right on the bus line.

06/18/2010Room smells...nothing like photos...looks like something from 1970s....small tv..remote doesn't work...no outlets for us voltage...plugs can't be used by my transformer...going ...

The room was very comfortable - good beds, etc, clean - sheets changed daily. The bathroom was kept spotless and needs were met promptly. The elevators are typically small but there are three of them and we never waited very long. Desk personnel were friendly and helpful -- Especially during our medical emergency. Breakfast was good and adequate, lunch and dinner however were VERY expensive (maybe the word "excessively expensive" would be better used). The hotel however is only a couple of blocks from St. Peter's Basilica and is surrounded by many sidewalk cafes, restaurants, and shops. All tour companies and sightseeing businesses are available through the front desk. We would definitely go back for another stay and have no regrets whatsoever.

Not a new hotel , but has been redone nicely. Very clean. Free morning buffet, bacon, eggs, pastry, etc. No conciegere, front desk only wanted to steer you to certain businesses, especially for dinner. There was a problem with my toilet that they could not fix, but they gave me another room. Shower small, you are constantly fighting the shower curtain. Basic room small, consider an upgrade to a superior room with a bathtub. Ideal location for Vatican, hop on hop off bus can be caught at St. Peters square. Only one computer.
