Awakened to the sound of a fire alarm around 6:45. Hurriedly dressed and went to the hall to find other guests trying to find out what was happening. Went to the front desk and no one was there, but alarm was still going off. No manager or anyone else around other than quests still wanting to know if it was a false alarm or not. Called from the room and no one answered. Hurriedly packed and left. Alarm finally stopped after at least 20-30 minutes. Man at the desk on the way out said he came on duty after the alarm and thought burnt toast set it off. He had no excuse why no one was available at the desk or why no one contacted guests about the alarm. Obviously, their only plan for a fire is to run away! It was bad enough that the pillows were severely stained and the bathroom was so bad that my room mate was unwilling to shower there. Keep looking if you plan on staying in Sheridan. Worst and LAST Super 8 Motel for me.

Just what we were looking for. Inexpensive but clean. Our GPS kept trying to led us the Best Western - Downtown Sheridan so finally had to resort to good old navigation with a map and address. Help at front desk was very cheerful. Since this motel is 2 miles north of the main part of town there are few decent restaurants around - McDonalds and the Firewater. If you want to experience Sheridan book another motel BUT if you are just there for a sleepover this place is good. It is also just one block to entrance to freeway. There was a note on the entrance hall anouncing that it was open and you did not to insert key in the door - not sure if they locked it at night.

Truely AWFUL HOTEL!

Our rooms were DIRTY, and although we reserved non-smoking, at check-in, we were informed that only smoking rooms remained. The rooms STUNK of stale smoke. It was around 1AM when we checked in, and we had no other options, so we had to stay anyway. The carpets were dirty...and even sticky like a movie theater.
We had 2 rooms, and both had broken sinks. 1 leaked from beneath, so your dirty shaving/toothpaste water dripped onto your feet while you used it. The other room had a broken stopper so the sink would not drain at all.
This Hotel is practically IN a train yard. Directly behind the hotel, at LEAST 5 sets of train tracks run through (check it out at an online map service). Trains came through blasting their horns all night long...it was loud even with the windows closed, but because the room smelled so bad, we had to keep them open, so it was even louder.
At checkout, we nicely notified the clerk on Duty of our issues, and he told us:
-That he didn't believe us. "The rooms are clean and if the sink was broken, housekeeping would have notified me"
-That we get what we pay for. "This isn't a Hilton"
-That we should have notified him on check in so they could fix the situation.
He then demanded that we take him back to the rooms to prove it. We showed him, but he didn't feel that the leaking sink warranted any compensation ("just put a towel under it" he said). He did give us a small compensation for the sink that wouldn`t drain.
We had reservations at other Super8s along this trip, but after this, we cancelled all the others, and rebooked at other chains. -
pleasant stay
