they did a bait and switch on our room but we were in hawaii so my wife insisted I let it go. Room was dirty and tiny. Even with two sinks at opposite ends of the bathroom we were bumping into each other. Thats what you get for * bucks a night there. The beach is nice and set apart from the hustle and bustle os waikiki beach which we liked. What we didnt like is the Kahala charged for everything.... cabanas..snorkle gear....tiny bottles of water.....we also stayed at the four seasons on maui during that trip they didnt charge for cabanas or beach equipment as long as you had your room number it was loaned without cost. They did charge for bottled water in your room but the vallets would offer it to you free when getting your car for you. The resturant downstairs was ok and we did enjoy sunset dinners on the patio. The dolphins were also a kick. The privacy is the best feature of the place.

My husband and I stayed here in September 2006 for our first anniversary. Everything was perfect. I cant think of any other vacation I have had being this perfect. I am going back in July and hopefully many more times in the future.

We stayed at Kahala Hotel for 7 nights during our honeymoon and couldn't be happier. We were stunned by the gorgeous lobby and the welcoming staff. The bed was comfy and the bathroom is large. Everyone was very courteous and helpful. It is secluded in a quieter area but is very close to the crowd (about 10-15 minutes drive). If you like to experience both worlds of Hawaii, this is a perfect place to stay. It is a little pricey than other hotels in waikiki but it is well worth it. You can watch dolphin all day long and you don't have to be at the pool/beach with 3000 other people. Some of the attraction might not be available in this hotel i.e. surfing lesson is offered but you will have to travel to Waikiki. Restaurant wise, we were not pleased with Plumeria for dinner, but definitely try Hoku. Plumeria offered breakfast buffet for $30 and it is quite nice if you want to enjoy your morning by the beach with your breakfast. High tea is also offered at 3-5 pm daily at the Veranda. Also, there is jazz night starting at around 6-10.30. We fall in love with Kahala Hotel and will definitely suggest it to other people and come back very soon.

If you want relaxed luxury within minutes of Waikiki action, beautiful views everywhere you look, stunning facilities, great food and a staff of people who demonstrate a genuine "aloha spirit," the Kahala Resort is for you. We chose the Kahala for a special getaway and our very first trip to Hawaii. The resort exceeded our expectations in every way. During our stay, we stopped in at the two other resorts we had researched and considered prior to our trip: the Halekulani and Turtle Bay. The Halekulani was lovely (we ate lunch there), but the location squished in between other Waikiki hotels didn't compare to the expansive privacy offered at the Kahala. On another day, we had lunch at Turtle Bay while visiting the North Shore ... the vastly scaled-back and oddly-paired buffet was a disappointment. The staff was unattentive and barely polite. To a person, the staff at the Kahala couldn't do enough to make us feel genuinely welcome. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay at the Kahala Resort at least another week! We've already cancelled another vacation later in the year and plan to return to the Kahala!

Ok so after much research my husband and I chose this hotel for our honeymoon. We actually booked it as a package thru an online agency so you might want to check them out. We got a room facing the water and it was great. Huge balcony but if you get a water facing room then you will also have a view of the parking lot so make sure that is ok with you. The rooms were wonderful, definitely five stare and the concierge was extremely helpful when I called in advance to plan some surprises for my husband. Everyone there was really nice and helpful. One of my favorite things about this place was there buffee breakfast everyday. Wow so great and then you get to practically sit on the beach to eat it. Other than that I can't say the food was that impressive and it was really pricey and that is what we read in a lot of reviews but we figured we would not be eating at the hotel a lot so it was no big deal. I think this is really romantic but also ideal for children since they can swim with the dolphins and it has a private beach. I would really recommend this hotel as a top notch place to stay.
