Very bad experience for a W (and a Starwood). As a platinum member I have stayed at over 100 Starwood properties and this has to rank up with the worst experiences I have had. (Generally, I am a huge fan). List of terrible service is long, but at the top, is no wake up call on my departure date. I ended up missing my flight and could not leave until the next day. I asked the front desk what happened and they said it was there mistake and they just didn't call. They did not offer to recitify in any way, nor would the manager talk to me. They would not compensate the extra night, nor did they provide an explanation, as they promised. Manager never spoke once. On top of that, they did not make up the room one day, even though I was gone the entire day. One day they knocked and woke me up on three separate occasions, even though the do-not disturb sign was on. Two times tried to get in the room. With a 7:30 reservation for breakfast, they could not seat our party until 8:00, then could not get us food in time to leave for our 8:30 meeting. The in-room safe was inoperable, lights burned out in the bathroom. Could go on - but suffice to say this is an extremely poorly run hotel. Save yourself the grief and book elsewhere. It is dissapointing this property is part of the Starwood brand.

We've stayed at the W on Poydras many times and wanted to try the W French Quarter because of the courtyard. We were very disappointed. The rooms are very tiny, no storage for clothing or empty luggage, no tables for computer or set purse down. The door on the minibar fell off, toilet backed up, bathroom door handle fell off. Went to enjoy the courtyard to find it closed off for wedding we were not made aware of and couldn't use pool area. Wedding party was very loud until 2 AM when hotel finally asked for quiet. The bed was fabulous! Never slept better, even at home. We'll go back to the W on Poydras, pay less and get way more.

We just wanted a few days away and used our points for the stay. The location is great for getting around the French Quarter. We walked everywhere we wanted to go and Bourbon Street was really close. The room wasn't one of the nicest we've stayed in. It needed some touch up work, like paint and taking care of worn corners, but for a few nights, it was ok. (We recognize that we are spoiled from timeshare stays so tried not to be too critical.) Our room overlooked the courtyard and was quiet except for Friday night when people in the courtyard were loud and the sound carried up, but wouldn't give up the windows that open to avoid it. Bathroom sliding door was kind of strange, but I guess part of the motif they were aiming for. Would have to commend all the staff members we came in contact with. They were friendly, quick with greetings and always asked if there was anything we needed. All requests, from extra blanket to printing boarding passes were met without any hesitation. Not sure I would pick this hotel again if we had to pay, but would definitely use points to stay again.

Handsome, fully equipped room included CD and DVD players. ""Spectacular"" room included large patio overlooking Chartres Street. Wonderful to open doors in a.m. and have private coffee. Pool small but elegant. Courtyard intimate, charming and makes it easy to meet others. Bacca (restaurant) slightly disappointing. Bedding perfect. Room 4, Looks 5, Front Desk 5, Other Service 4. Comp electric runabout helps you go futher afield. Quiet part of Fr. Qrtr.
