Don't stay here if you plan to be in your room during day. Due to construction of a swimming pool, the jackhammers begin at 9am and continue 'til 5. If you plan to sleep in, conduct business in your room, or intend to merely relax in the room, stay away from this hotel until construction completion...which should be late 2012. I was on the 7th floor, but incredibly, I could not even hear the parties on other ends of my phone. Glass windows shook, desk lamp literally vibrated its way to end of desk every 10 minutes. Hotel made absolutely no disclosure on website or within reservations confirmation. Checked out after one nite of a four nite planned stay. My written complaint to manager days later was met with a reply that, in summary stated," Sorry and we look forward to your return after construction is done." Really?

Wow!! I was stunned when I opened the door to my breathtaking suite!!! I cannot say enough good things about my experience at the Westgate!!! It is truly extraordinary!! The huge baccarat chandeliers in the lobby are mesmerizing as is every detail of the very high end, french inspired Hotel. I spent my birthday weekend in one of the suites and hosted a party for some of my closest friends before we headed out downtown for a night of celebration. It could not have been any better, every detail was taken care of to perfection. The service throughout the whole hotel was courteous and very professional. I needed a sewing kit to repair my new birthday dress and they brought me three just to make sure I had what I needed. The room service was prompt and Fabulous and they brought me as much ice as I needed as I had more than one bottle of champagne for my friends!!! The suite was VERY spacious with beautiful furniture and the bed was, of course SUPER comfortable but I must say one of my favorite things was the bathroom, it was gorgeous, opulent and covered in fabulous marble. I felt like royalty!! We also had an AMAZING view of the water and downtown and watched the sunset from our two balconies!! It was a thrill to show my friends my favorite hotel in San Diego!! It was an experience we are all sure not to forget!!! The only True 5 star hotel in San Diego!! Thank you Westgate!!! I look forward to my next stay!!!!

I and my party of three had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent hotel. We had lunch at their restaurant and here’s what happened: First it took forever for someone to take our order (we were the ONLY ones there), at least 15-20 minutes for someone to come. When they did take our order it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, ROOM TEMP! They never refilled our water. We ordered two beers, had to beg to get a second round. VERY EXPENSIVE. Would not care about the price but the service/food really..sucked. There is no other way to put it. Went back for breakfast the next day. Service was the same and the portions were small (just as in lunch) and the food was AGAIN room temp. (British sounding waitress was very kind) If you want a decent meal, go to Currant right down the street. Every other aspect of the hotel was great. Will stay there again but will NEVER eat at their overpriced and lousy restaurant.

Not that impressive from outside, the interior is all elegance and comfort. The rooms were spacious and the overall feel is that of a high-end hotel. We got a package deal, so we didn't pay the full price, which helped. Parking is expensive - $32/day - but that's true all over downtown. The hotel is reasonably convenient to downtown/Gaslamp/convention center and there is a trolley line behind the hotel. Free Internet is standard.
