I stayed at this hotel over Labor Day 09' weekend for the Dragon Con convention. Was quite impressed. Very clean hotel. All common areas were spotless. The whole room was also spotless. As an added touch, you get a "welcome" gift when you get into your room. It's a bag containing water, chips, and candies. My only complaint was the tv. It's an old tube-style tv, so the picture wasn't all that great. Very good free breakfast, where you can make your own waffles. Eggs, cereals, toast and plenty of drinks too. Get there early, as it gets crowded pretty quick. Plenty of restaurants nearby. It's only about a 15-min. drive to downtown and all the attractions (aquarium, CNN, World of Coke). Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had forgotten some bathroom products and we were able to go down to the front desk and get the items we needed. If I'm ever in the area again, I would stay again.

I have to say that our stay at Wingate was Fabulous!!!!!! It was easy to get in and out to the main highway and everything was in a short distance from each other. The Hospitality was good. The weight room equipment needed to be repaired but other thatn that I would stay again and recommend others to stay!!!!

We stayed at the Wingate July 2-July 5, 2010. The check-in process went smoothly. The staff was very accommodating until our encounter with the rm#318 from hell!!! The toilet wouldn't flush after 4 times. We notified the front desk and was given a plunger --- we had to fix the plumbing!!! We asked to speak w/manager -- NO MANAGER was ever there!! We asked for another room. They were booked due to several reunions until our LAST night stay. We were moved on our last DAY. NO DISCOUNT ON OUR ROOM!!!! DON'T ASK NO MANAGER REMEMBER!!! We've stayed in Wingates often but this one takes the cake. Also, for those with bad backs. Their beds will make you want to leave the first night. The mattress is like sleeping on the floor. They are as hard as bricks. I never had back trouble but after staying here I do now. Its been 2 days now and I'm still hurting from our stay at this hotel. We WILL MOST DEFINITELY NOT stay at this one EVER again!!! BEWARE OF ROOM 318 unless you are a certified PLUMBER...

Worst Stay Ever in a Hotel

5/31/10 I checked into this hotel and had to switch rooms 4 times due to the a/c’s not working, thought I finally had one with working a/c, it was at 78 degrees my son and I left for an hour or so, we got back it was still at 77 we went to the hotels indoor heated pool and jacuzzi, big joke there!!! Pool was ice cold, jacuzzi luke warm. We were given a room with a jacuzzi tub for our inconvenience and told pool and jacuzzi would be fixed by morning. The a/c worked better in our new room and we got to use a jacuzzi. The next morning we went to area attractions came back in the afternoon, asked at front desk if the pool and jacuzzi were fixed, they said yes. Went to jacuzzi, not exactly hot but better, jumped in the pool to discover it was ice cold. Immediately contacted travel online 2nd time and was told manager would be compensating me for problems, but not up to travel online to compensate me since it was the hotels problems. Called hotel manager and told they would not be doing anything because there’s no problem. At this point am now into 3rd day of stay and went down to ask if the pool was working was told it was. We went to amusement park, returned to the hotel was storming so understandable pool was closed, however said they would open it when storm passed we waited 30-45 mins after storm called front desk and told pool was closed because was way below water level. Called travel online after checking out 6/3/10 told me they would call once they spoke to hotel manager who was not in so we could finally resolve this. Have yet to hear from them. Not sure if this is standard for travelocity or this hotel: to have so many problems with hotel, that amenties of hotel, guest never gets to use, and no one has yet to even call me back or do anything to resolve this problem. Also, I noticed that on travelocity website there is a guarantee for booking that if you call right away of any issues they will resolve issue and find you a comparable hotel, that was never even offered to me. Last, hotel ended up charging me for my stay and then charging another 40.00 hold , without telling me, the second day of my stay. Which I spoke in length about to both hotel and travelocity, and I believe is illegal, since no one told me, still no response. Still waiting ..............
