Important Hotel Information
- The WinterHaven Hotel rooms are completely smoke free. However, smoking is allowed in the outside deck and patio area.
- There is also a 10 plus tax per day resort fee, which is payable by the guest directly to the hotel upon check out. This place was perfect for our quick stay. Cross the street and you are at the beach. Lots of restaurants to walk to. The continental breakfast was great especially the warm waffles and muffins. Room was clean, bathroom was quaint and clean. Staff was very friendly. Also about 5-10 min drive to downtown. Only problem no option to buy movie to watch on TV..channels are very limited...but you have the beach and so much to see I guess who needs that. Enjoy...

The first thing you have to understand is that this is an old building. That means that the elevator is slow, the rooms are small, and the walls are VERY thin. When I say the walls are thin, I mean that we could hear the guy next door snoring and participate in the argument the couple next door was having in the middle of the night. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. It is on the quieter end of Ocean Drive, so you don't have the club noise that other hotels on Ocean Drive would have. On the positive side, the staff is super friendly. Our room was exceptionally clean. They forgot to re-stock our towels a couple of times, but they took care of it immediately once we contacted the front desk. Unlike most of the hotels on Ocean Drive, Winterhaven does not have a restaurant out front. This means you can sit out on the front porch to people watch during the heat of the afternoon or while sipping a cocktail from the martini bar while watching the moon rise over the palm trees. As long as you understand that the building is old, it's a great place to stay.

At first glance, I was disappointed at how small the room was. The bathroom is also very tiny. I would recommend only booking 2 adults per room. My boyfriend and I had a great time. This was our first trip to Miami! The hotel is located right on Collins Avenue near Hotel Victor and directly across the street from the beach. The continental breakfast every morning was great; there was a lot to choose from and all the food was fresh. They even had a little waffle maker! The bar in the hotel lobby served us some great mixed drinks and we sat on the porch in the evenings drinking and people-watching. Also, one of the male hotel workers [possibly the manager] was very friendly. He always held the door open for us! There are lounge/beach chairs in the closet in hotel room which you can carry across the street to the beach. They give you clean towels at the front desk whenever you need them. Since we were out walking around and hanging out at the beach most of the day, the room size wasn't such as issue. If you're on a budget [we're in college], then this is a great hotel for you. South Beach is definitely a great time!

I booked this hotel based on other reviewers' comments. I was anxious to know how I feel about it when I arrived in South Beach. Actually it is a nice hotel for the price, great location, clean, and pretty peaceful at night (not much noise at night). The location is perfect, not right in the middle of the loudest South Beach area, but within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment places. I wish the hotel had a pool or jacuzzi, but the beach is right across the hotel. We hung out at the beach most of the days. They included continental breakfast until 10 am and daily snacks (fruit, granola bar, and water) in the afternoon. Just be aware, the hotel charges additional $* per room (not per person)/night for resort fee. Overall, I was happy staying at Winterhaven hotel. It is not a fancy hotel, but if you're looking for a clean, great location, friendly people, close to the beach, affordable place to stay in South Beach, this could be a place for you!
