The game of Blackjackby World Casino Directory
Blackjack, or 21 as it is often referred to is a casino gambling table game played with cards. Before it is reasonable to play in a casino for money it is advised that you understand the basic premise of the game of Blackjack. The objective when playing blackjack is to beat the dealer by getting closest to twenty-one points without going over it. Each card in the game of blackjack has a point value and by adding up the value of your cards you determine how many points you have.
Aces are worth 1 or 11 points, face cards (kings, queens and jacks) as well as the ten card are worth 10 points and number cards are worth their respective value, meaning the 2&clubs is worth 2 points and the 7&diams is worth 7 points and so on...
In the game of Blackjack, the dealer begins by dealing everyone two cards in two passes beginning to the dealers left. This includes the dealer. There are some games where the cards are dealt face up and some that are otherwise but for now we will not discuss these differences. Instead we will focus on the basic principals of the game of Blackjack.
Once everyone at the Blackjack table has their cards, the player to the immediate left of the dealer will begin. Depending on the value of the cards they have, the player may choose to ”hit” or ”stand”. If a player chooses to “hit”, the player will receive another card. The player may hit until they decide to stay or until they bust, meaning they go over twenty-one points. When a player busts, they lose their bet.
When all of the players have had their turn it is then the dealers turn. The dealer must take a card if the value of their hand is less than sixteen and they must stand if the value of their hand is seventeen or above. Armed with this knowledge you are to make your best decision when playing Blackjack and trying to decide whether to hit or stand.
Aces : Aces, when playing Blackjack or 21 are worth either one point or eleven points. Depending on the value of your other cards, you may use an Ace as an eleven if it does not put you over twenty-one. If for example, you have an A&spades and a 5&hearts you would have what is called or referred to as a “soft sixteen” meaning you could still hit without the risk of going over twenty-one. If you drew anything larger than another 5 you would then just count your Ace as a one instead of an eleven.
