Rain or not, Sequim continues its streak this weekend with the first weekend of the 117th Sequim Irrigation Festival, the longest-running festival in Washington. The event continues over two weekends from May 4-13, including the grand parade May 12.

On Sept. 11, 2011, Police Chief Bill Dickinson, Detective Darrell Nelson and Officer Randy Kellas of the Sequim Police Department delivered a piece of the fallen World Trade Center to the City of Sequim.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Sequim man April 27 on suspicion of child rape. According to a probable cause report, a 7-year-old elementary school student told classmates about sexual activity between her and Daniel Eli Pace, who is a relative.

The City of Sequim’s 54 miles of streets rated good in a recent study, according to Paul Haines, city public works director. He presented results of an early February study by Capital Asset & Pavement Services, Inc. on May 14 to city councilors.

The Irrigation Festival went all blue for its theme “117 & Still Growin’ Green.” Near perfect weather graced the event over the weekend for some of Sequim’s biggest events like the Grand Parade and Logging Show.
