Jan 12, 2023: Las Vegas Sands will reportedly apply for - one of three casino licenses the state of New York plans to award - to build a large-scale property with casino, hotel and conference facilities at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, a sporting and entertainment venue situated on a nearly 80-acre site on Long Island. The yet-to-be-named multi-billion-dollar flagship hospitality, entertainment and casino project will showcase integrated resort components including outdoor community spaces, four and five-star hotel rooms and a world-class live performance venue.

High quality casino gaming is planned to represent less than ten percent of the project's total square footage. There will also likely be celebrity chef restaurants, experiential events and venues and flexible meeting and convention space, including ballrooms, a luxury day spa, swimming pool and health club, and various other entertainment programming. 

The three licenses are not expected to be awarded until late 2023, at the earliest. 

If Sands lands the license, this would be its only US casino since selling off the real estate at its Las Vegas properties: the Venetian, Palazzo and the Sands Expo Convention Center, for $4 billion to Vici Properties in 2021, as it shifted focus to Macau and Singapore. Apollo Global Management bought the operations for $2.25 billion, roughly half financed by Sands.
