Rhode Island-based gaming, betting and interactive entertainment company, Bally's Corporation, has proposed to develop and operate the approximately $1.7 billion Bally’s Chicago to be located in the River West neighborhood on a portion of the Tribune Publishing Plant site in Chicago, Illinois. The casino, hotel, and entertainment venue will be the company's flagship property and would reportedly include a 3,000-seat, 65,000 square foot entertainment center, sports museum, an extension of the Chicago Riverwalk, a pedestrian bridge, a 500-foot tall hotel with 500 rooms including 100 suites and a roof-top bar, pool and fitness.

Other amenities include 65,000 square feet of entertainment, a 3,000-seat flexible theater, meeting rooms and convention space, six restaurants/cafes including a food hall, four bars and lounges, 3,200 parking spaces, a 23,000-square-foot museum and a new publicly accessible Riverwalk. The 168,000 square feet of gaming would include a total of 4,000 gaming positions,  according to officials. 

The proposed location is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and other cultural attractions and is easily accessed by public transportation.

If all goes according to plan, and the proposal is approved, which looks to be a long process, Bally’s opened a temporary casino near the permanent location in Sept 2023, with the completed casino slated to open in late 2025 or the first quarter of 2026. The temporary casino is located at the Medinah Temple, 600 N. Wabash Ave. in Chicago.
