Aspers Royal Pier Casino Review Jump to comments

Aspers has been chosen from several casino operators that were approved in September 2014 to apply for a “large casino” license at Southampton’s Royal Pier, which is expected to open in 2021. The license decision was supposed to have been announced in June but until now had not been made public. A total of seven casino applications were submitted by Aspers, Genting, Grosvenor, Global Gaming Ventures and Kymeira Casino for the one casino license.
The government granted a license to the casino for up to 30 blackjack and poker tables and as many as 150 slot machines. Excluding Northern Ireland, the large casino license is the last of eight to be issued in the U.K.
The new development will also include a 250-bed hotel, 730 apartments, restaurants, and up to 50 shops.
Aspinall's is currently run by the founder's son, Damian Aspinall. A 50% stake is owned by Crown Resorts
