LATEST NEWS: In August 2025, the Concord Planning Board granted a one-year extension for the first phase of a proposed 43,000-square-foot casino, restaurant, and microbrewery on Break O’ Day Drive, extending the approval deadline to Sept. 1, 2026. The project is planned in two phases, with a future hotel, conference center, and parking structure included in phase two.

That same month, the New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled that a resident opposing the development lacked legal standing, clearing a key hurdle. However, uncertainty remains over whether Andy Sanborn will be allowed to operate the casino. The New Hampshire Lottery Commission revoked his license for the Concord Casino on South Main Street in late 2024 after he failed to secure an approved buyer. The revocation followed findings that Sanborn misused $844,000 in federal pandemic relief funds. While the Supreme Court temporarily reversed the revocation in early 2025 during an appeal, the license remains suspended, and Sanborn faces felony theft charges.

Update Nov. 2024 - the proposed location of the project is in litigation.

The Concord Planning Board approved a proposal on Jan.  18, 2023, for the construction of a 45,000-square-foot casino and hotel on the city's east side. A company called Big Step, LLC, led by former New Hampshire senator and Concord businessman Andy Sanborn, has proposed a charitable casino with table games, slots and a poker room. Other amenities will reportedly include a hotel, restaurant, and parking lot on Loudon Road in Concord, New HampshireThe proposal is to build what they're calling "Imagine Casino" in two phases, starting with a 26,000 sq ft gaming hall with 634 seats and an 8,500 sq ft restaurant and brew pub able to accommodate up to 150 diners. The hotel and conference center would follow in the second phase of the development.
