Eastern Idaho Fair Horse Racing Review Jump to comments
The Eastern Idaho State Fair is located at 97 Park Street in Blackfoot, Idaho. Come out the Eastern Idaho State Fair for some exciting horse racing and parimutuel betting starting the last weekend in August. Although the Fair has been around a lot longer, and many a horse has raced, betting on the ponies has been legal at this venue since parimutuel betting was legalized in Idaho in 1964. The always popular Indian Relay races were not run that year, but returned in 1965 to cheering crowds.
Although conventional horse racing is a big part of the meet schedule, a fan favorite is Indian Relay racing, originated by the Shoshone and Bannock tribes on the Fort Hall reservation, and a part of the history for over 100 years.
The fair begins the Saturday prior Labor Day each year. Live horse racing is held Sunday, Monday, Friday and the closing Saturday of the fair. First post time noon each day.

The always exciting and dangerous Indian Relay races are run after the 4th, 6th, and 8th parimutuel races. We can't tell you if betting happens on these races as parimutuel (pooled) betting is the only legal way to bet on racing in Idaho.
Saturday, September 7 at noon is the last Pari-Mutuel Racing and Indian Relay Races for 2019.
There are 8-10 sanctioned races each race day that you can bet on, and 3 Indian Relays. The first post time is noon each day. Anyone over the age of 18 may place a bet.
