The parimutuel Emmett Horse Races are part of the Gem County Fair located at 2199 South Johns Avenue, in Emmett, Idaho. Quarter Horse races have been run at the Gem County Fair the last weekend in April since 1985. Sometimes known as the Emmett Spring Horse Races at the Gem County Fair and Rodeo, recent seasons have seen a single race day featuring 2 events following two trials for each earlier in the month. The 300 yard chute, 1/2 mile QH Futurity for 2 year-olds is the first leg of the Dutch Masters III Triple Crown with a $5,000 added purse at this event. The second race is their QH Derby for 3 year-olds which runs a 330 yard chute with $3,000 added to the purse.

Gaming at Emmett Horse Races
The gates open at 12 noon and first post time is 1:30pm. The first horses out of the gates are 2 year-olds running in futurity, and the next race is a Quarter Horse Derby with 3 year-olds. Anyone 18 or older can place their bet for win, place, or show. Parimutuel wagering was made legal in Idaho in 1964.
Horse race betting occurs one day each year at the Gem County Fair.
You can also see most of these horses competing at the much larger Les Bois Park in Boise which currently has 30 race days per year.
