Freehold Raceway  in Freehold Borough, New Jersey is the oldest racetrack in the United States. Horse races have been taking place on this half-mile track since the 1830s. The Monmouth County Agricultural Society was established on December 17, 1853, and the next year they began holding an annual fair with harness racing at Freehold Raceway. Today they have two seasons per year with races going from New Years Day through the middle of May - and from September into the middle of December. Simulcast betting is open year round with up to 30 thoroughbred and harness racing simulcasts  per day. Freehold Raceway also owns the off track betting parlor Favorites at Toms River about 30 miles away.
