News: On May 28, 2025, owner-operator PENN Entertainment announced that the new land-based Hollywood Casino Joliet is expected to open to the public on Monday, August 11, pending final regulatory approvals. The opening comes nearly six months ahead of the original construction timeline.

The state-of-the-art casino will anchor Rock Run Collection, a major new commercial and residential development strategically located at the busy Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 interchange, which sees an estimated 230,000 vehicles daily. The property will feature approximately 1,000 slot machines, 43 live table games—including a dedicated baccarat room—a retail ESPN BET sportsbook, a 10,000-square-foot event center with meeting spaces, and about 1,330 parking spots.

Owner PENN Entertainment hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Hollywood Casino Joliet on December 13, 2023. The entirely new land-based casino and entertainment facility will replace the Wyomissing, PA-based company's nearby riverboat casino when completed. 

The move onto land was made possible by a law signed in 2019 that allowed for riverboat casinos to relocate landside. The existing Hollywood Casino Joliet, which is located on the Des Plaines River, will maintain its normal operations while the new land-based facility is constructed, which is anticipated to take approximately 24 months.
