Update 4/27/23: Caesars Virginia LLC received approval from the Virginia Lottery Board for its coming Caesars Virginia casino on April 26, 2023. The vote also clears the way for the opening of a temporary casino in mid-May. Due to open in late 2024, the permanent casino will be Virginia's third casino. Caesars expects to invest more than $650 million in the entertainment complex. The company's temporary casino, located in Danville, Virginia at the future site of the permanent casino, will reportedly open for business on May 15.

Caesars Entertainment and recently announced partner, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, broke ground on August 11, 2022, for the $650 million Caesars Virginia in Danville. Plans for the premier destination resort casino, which is being constructed on the grounds of a former finishing plant in the River City, include a 500-room hotel, a full-service spa, pool, various bars and restaurants, a 2,500-seat state-of-the-art live entertainment theater, and 40,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

As for gaming, the spacious casino floor will reportedly feature over 1,300 slots, 85 live table games, 24 electronic table games, a WSOP poker room and a Caesars Sportsbook.

The anticipated opening date of Caesars Virginia is in late 2024.
