Update: After already having dismantled and hauled off the old riverboat casino, The Cordish Companies broke ground on Dec 13, 2023, to celebrate construction of the $270 million Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, formerly Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City which has been shuttered since 2020. Among the highlights, the renovation will reportedly include Sports & Social sports bar and restaurant curated by James Beard Award nominee Chef John Suley; PBR Cowboy Bar; Luk Fu, a restaurant featuring the traditional flavors of Southeast Asia; and a fine dining steakhouse yet to be branded.

The first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market, which was made possible by a new state law allowing land-based properties, is expected to open in early 2025.

On Oct. 19, 2023, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board granted LRGC Gaming Investors, LCC, an affiliate of The Cordish Companies, the necessary regulatory approvals required to become a gaming operator in the State. The approval clears the way for Cordish to finalize the acquisition of Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel in Bossier City and begin construction of the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market. Cordish plans include replacing the existing casino riverboat with LIVE! Casino & Hotel Louisiana.  

The $270-plus million transformation will reportedly include fully renovating the hotel rooms and public space. The world-class gaming, dining, entertainment, and hotel destination is expected to open sometime in 2025 and feature more than 47,000 square feet of gaming space, including over 1,000 slots and electronic table games, 40-plus live-action table games, and a sportsbook. An upscale 550-room hotel will feature a resort pool and fitness center, along with a 25,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, multi-purpose Event Center; structured and surface parking; 30,000-square-feet of entertainment venues including more than six new food and beverage outlets featuring nationally acclaimed concepts Sports & Social and PBR Cowboy Bar; Luk Fu, an Asian restaurant; a fine dining steakhouse; and more.
