The Fremont Street Experience
You won't find pirates, pyramids, or castles Downtown - what you will find is the heart of Las Vegas. Fremont Street was the first paved street in the city, the site of the first traffic light, the first elevator, and the first high-rise hotel. The first gambling license was issued on Fremont Street in 1931, so you will get a feel for the Real Vegas here. In 1995 the Fremont Street Experience was born at a cost of $70 million as a 7 block open street scene with a canopy of lights above. A few years later the system was upgraded into the largest TV screen in the world, 4 blocks long, and containing over 12 million LED lights with visuals augmented by over half a million watts of concert quality sound.
