Update: The Prairie Flower Casino in Carter Lake has plans for a significant expansion, with the completion expected in late 2024 or early 2025. Initially projected for a summer 2024 opening, the construction has encountered delays attributed to supply-chain challenges related to the pandemic. The existing casino will be expanded from 9,500 square feet to 70,000 square feet while gaming machines will be increased to 600 slots and video machines. A new sportsbook will feature a gastro pub. There will be a center bar, more dining options and retail shops.

Located in Carter Lake, Iowa, just 5 minutes from Downtown Omaha, Prairie Flower Casino is owned and operated by the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Upon completion, the casino will reportedly feature some 200 slots, a casino bar and a snack bar. The Ponca Tribe has already begun planning phase two of the development, which could reportedly include a larger casino with 2,000 slot machines, 50 table games and a 150-room hotel.
