Santa Anita Park Review
Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California opened on Christmas Day 1934. Winter and Spring see some of the most prominent races in the country there. Many consider Santa Anita Park to be one of the most scenic racecourses in the country due to the San Gabriel Mountains setting the backdrop and the art deco facade from the 1930's. Notable races at this flat thoroughbred racecourse include the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap. The park has hosted the Breeder's Cup 9 times since 1986.
The natural dirt track here is one mile long with an interior turf course at 9/10 of a mile or a little over 7 furlongs. There is also a unique hillside turf track that crosses the dirt. The dirt track was replaced with an artificial course from 2007 until December 2010 before returning to a natural track.
The grandstand seats over 25,000 guests. The infield can hold up to 50,000.
