News June 2025: On June 10, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a ruling confirming the trust status for the Scotts Valley Tribe planning on building a proposed 400,000-square-foot casino in Vallejo. It did not rule on the merits of the case and declined to issue interim relief at this juncture.

A judge in a federal lawsuit over the Scotts Valley Pomo’s efforts to move forward with a casino in Vallejo has ruled that other tribes from the area cannot intervene in the case, although amicus briefs will be allowed. Judge Trevor McFadden handed down the decision on April 23 in the tribe's lawsuit against the Department of the Interior. A decision in its case could come as early as May.

The deadline for submitting public comments on the Environmental Assessment of the proposed Scotts Valley Casino in Vallejo ended on Aug. 22, 2024. The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), will review the comments and information to determine whether or not to proceed with the next steps in the casino approval process. No timeframe for the decision has been announced.

Oct. 2022: The U.S. Department of Interior rejected the Vallejo casino proposal in 2019, however, a federal court has ordered a second review which is currently underway at the Department.

In October 2016, the federally recognized Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians announced plans to build a $700 million casino resort in Vallejo, California. The project includes a 400,000-square-foot facility with a casino, restaurants, hotel and spa. A family entertainment center would follow, which could include a movie theater, arcade and bowling alley.

The project also includes the construction of 24 single-family residences, a tribal administration building, parking garage and a 45-acre biological preserve area on a 160-acre property located within and adjacent to the city boundary in Solano County, near the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 37.
