Update: In a 4-1 vote on Thursday, April 28, the Massachusetts State Gaming Commission rejected Mass Gaming & Entertainment's plans for a $677 million casino at the Brockton Fairgrounds. Proponents had hoped that the project would serve as an economic catalyst for the city, which is one of the poorest in the state. However, commission members said that the casino-hotel complex design was uninspired and that it would have faced strong competition from the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe's Project First Light Resort & Casino located just 20 miles away in Taunton.

As of October 1, 2015 no "working name" for the Brockton Fairgrounds casino in Massachusetts has been announced. The project, headed up by Rush Street Gaming subsidiary Mass Gaming & Entertainment has only recently submitted Phase II of their application and no license has been approved yet.

If built according to current plans (more may be revealed with a disclosure by the MGC expected next week) the $650 million project will cover 240,000 square feet with a casino floor offering 2,000 slots and video poker machines plus 100 gaming tables. A poker room as well as VIP areas are also planned.

A 250 guestroom and suite hotel with a spa, health club and pool will be included along with about 25,000 square feet of multi-function event and entertainment space.

Plans are for 3,000 parking spaces including a parking garage.
