LATEST NEWS: The proposed Hard Rock casino and hotel project in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has advanced in the federal approval process following the release of a draft environmental assessment by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The assessment evaluates the potential effects of the development, including impacts on air quality, water resources, traffic, and public services.

According to officials, the review concluded that the project is not expected to create significant environmental impacts.

The development, proposed by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, is planned for a site near 122nd Avenue and 60th Street, just west of Interstate 94 in Kenosha. Current plans outline a resort-style complex featuring a casino, multiple restaurants, a 150-room hotel, a ballroom, and a 2,000-seat entertainment auditorium.

The draft environmental assessment has been released for public comment as the proposal progresses through the federal review process.

Before the project can move ahead to construction, the land must first be placed into federal tribal trust status. In addition, the development requires approval from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.

The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin would own the casino and its related facilities and Hard Rock International, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, would serve as developer and manager of the project.
