The Golden West is a 25 -table, non-smoking room located off the 58 Freeway in Bakersfield. This very active room offers a rustic environment with an open beam and stone (lodge) decor.
The room spreads a variety of smaller stakes limit games and no-limit games. Once a week (Mon), they spread a 10/20 NL game. Sign-up screens are electronically managed and easily seen throughout the room. Wait times at peak times approach 30 minutes; unfortunately, players can't call ahead to get on the list.
Golden West offers tournaments throughout the week with various buy-ins (see tournament schedule). In addition, there is an automated (Lightning Poker) table which will spread most games with enough people.
There are newer tables, fixed leg chairs, and autoshufflers on most tables. The 6-table dining area serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (24/7) with friendly and helpful staff.

Atmosphere: Tables and chairs were nice and most tables had autoshufflers. Many flatscreens could be seen from everywhere and the sign up list is automated. The only drawback was that the room seemed a bit cramped.
Dealers: They seemed friendly and I didn't see any mistakes
Food: Pretty fast drink service. There is a diner that offers everything from sandwiches to steaks. Good food. I didnt see any other places nearby.
Service: Very well organized waitlists. You cannot call ahead for the list. Staff very helpfull. There was about a 35min wait for a 2/2nl.
Comps: They do not offer comps yet(soon). There was a bad beat jackpot.
