Wheeling Island Poker Room

Impressions: Arrived Saturday at noon waited for about ten minutes for a seat not bad.Had open seating around 3:00pm that day but the tables were still full.
Atmosphere: chairs are normal, tables same everywhere else, autocard shufflers are nice, plain room (open though),need a few more tvs
Dealers: A few are still leaning most part games ran smooth.
Food: If the server ask you if you would like a drink order something because you dont know when they will be back again!There is a bar and restroom located right across from the poker room.
Service: sign in right in front of poker room, would recommend have a chip runner get your chips a bit faster count your chips some have problems making change
Comps: dont know

Impressions: Yes...I like the place very well. First hand I sat down to I flopped the Nut Flush and took in over 350bucks on a 1-2 Table. Have noticed that there are some people there that will play all the way to the river with nothing u just have to figure out who they are.
Atmosphere: I liked the overall Atmosphere of the place...non-smoking is a plus and like everyone else has said the lack of TV's is noticable.
Dealers: LOL...there were a few dealers that knew the game of poker but there was this one lady that couldn't have been very old and how in the hell she got through to get the job of a Poker Dealer I have no clue.
Food: Order a Beer and you will probably get a mixed drink! the Drink service is POOR!!! but the Hotties bringing them to the table are Awesome! lol
Service: First week that it opened there was a terrible wait...but now the wait seems less of time and I only had to wait 5 minutes the last time I was there.
Comps: Comps Suck but they should start recognizing the players more once they get everything together.

Impressions: I would recommend this room, but be prepared for some waiting from time to time, and be ready for some rather fishy play, which isn't a bad thing.
Atmosphere: The room is great, but they need more T.V.'s for the players to watch.
Dealers: The staff is doing a great job, they are still learning and it is all on the job training for most of the dealers.
Food: The food and Beverage service are terrible, usually up to an hour wait for a drink???
Service: The waiting lists are getting considerably better than when they opened.
Comps: No comp's as of yet, but they are supposedly in the works.... we will see how that pans out

This was my 1st visit to the new Wheeling Casino Poker Room. Very poor directions to the Poker Room. Everyone seems a little confused as we experienced problems with the unusal "Traveling Button" and the resulting 3 blinds instead of 2. No problem with buying chips but can see where there will be problems when there are several players waiting. Cashiers count & recount & recount, then give you the wrong amount. Tables run fairly smooth except at Dealer change which seems to happen quite often and stopped the game for up to 10 minutes. Still all in all it was an injoyable afternoon and I will return.

Impressions: Wheeling recently opened their poker room, and I think that within a few months, this will be a pretty decent place to play. The players at my table were all home-gamers (pretty fishy), which meant that general casino rules, such as '1 to a hand' were not generally respected and some of the dealers were too green to enforce this. Note: actions made out of turn are non-binding. I suspect this will get better as they work out the kinks and dealers/floor become more experienced. The great state of Ohio is losing boatloads of revenue to its three casino-offering neighbors. I hope the lunkheads in the capitol building cave in soon.
Atmosphere: This is a spacious, new room with 20 new tables and chairs. It's completely smoke free, since the neighboring spaces are also smoke free. Needs more TVs, tho!
Dealers: The dealers were uniformly competent and trained but generally on the green side. Once they get some experience, they should be fine.
Food: You can get food served tableside. I didn't partake, but it didn't look bad. Drink service was generally competent. Soda pop is free, all others pay.
Service: The wait times for hold'em were very long. 1/2 NL had 8 or so tables running with about 50 on the list; 2/4 limit, fewer tables, but still a long wait. The only relief was to play stud, with 1$ ante, and 1-5$ spread betting. The wait for this was generally shortish.
Omaha was put on the board, but it was obvious that the game was not going to go, because it would have involved killing a hold'em table to do so. Once things calm down, there may be 1-2 NLO high only. They also took lists for 5-5 PLO and 3-6 O8.
The floor was really struggling to keep control of how many empty seats they had and how to fill them, despite some very sophisticated buttonry on the fancy tables.
The cage folks really need more training in terms of doing very basic things quickly. If it takes them 2 minutes to figure out how to give you $100 in chips, and there's 10 people in line, you'd better get your chips well before it's your turn to play. Seemed to take 4 minutes plus for any player to cash out at the cage.
Comps: The comp program needs some work. It works out to about $5 for 24 hours of play.
